George Cherian has been appointed as the Head of Corporate Communications & PR for the newly formed joint venture JioStar.
Previously, Cherian was the Head Of Communications and Corporate Responsibility at The Walt Disney Company from January 2022 for more than 2.5 years.
He is an experienced Head Of Corporate Affairs with a demonstrated history of working in the financial services industry. Cherian is skilled in crisis communications, government and industry body relations, issues management and media relations, corporate reputation, employee communications, corporate branding and corporate responsibility.
He has also worked as the Director and Head of Group Communications, India for Deutsche Bank for three years and eight months during May 2018 - December 2021.
Another stint of his was with Barclays Bank for more than 5 years, where he was responsible for all external and internal communication, government and industry body relations, brand, events and sponsorships in India.
Cherian began his career as a journalist as a Senior Correspondent with The Financial Express in 1997 where he tracked news on private banks, non-banking finance companies, housing finance companies and credit rating agencies.
As a journalist he also worked as the Assistant Corporate Editor with The Economic Times, Banking Editor of UTVi, and Banking Editor of ET NOW in the past over the years.
