'e4m has given recognition to Communications & PR, which usually miss the spotlight’

Akanksha Jain, Head -PR & Communications at Pine Labs Private Limited shares her thoughts of being in the list and her future endeavours

Akanksha Jain, Head -PR & Communications at Pine Labs Private Limited, is one of the faces recognised under “e4m PR & Corporate Communications 40 under 40” list. A young startup Communications and Culture specialist, Akanksha has close to 15 years of hands-on experience in conceptualising, planning and managing global as well as India- focused public relations and communication.

 Exchange4media had a conversation with Akanksha Jain where she shared her thoughts of being in the list and her future endeavours.

 Edited Excerpts:

 How do you feel being a part of the elite list?

I feel honoured. This is a great accreditation of the work I have done over the last few years. I specialise in brand building by leveraging traditional and new-age strategies of public relations, market communications and brand communications. Communications and PR are high-stress roles that generally miss the spotlight. I  would like to thank the Jury for appreciating communicators and their tireless efforts over the years to create brands. Also, my congratulations to the exchange4media team for the success of this initiative.

 What were the trends that kept 2019 buzzing in the communication industry?

The year 2019 witnessed a number of trends. Public relations emerged as a profile that is beyond media relations, having more to do with storytelling and correct pitch. The role of communication professionals gained importance, as more brands (including new and emerging ones) have begun to understand the importance of building positive brand equity. Digital PR and videos have emerged as important tools for brand building. ‘Content’ continued to be the King, and the right content is an integral part of all marketing and communications strategies.

 Also, culture and purpose have gained prominence in organisations as they aim to build an engaged and committed workforce.

 How will this recognition by e4m add value to your profile and the communications industry at large?

This recognition will add a lot of value to my profile. I believe this recognition will help scale my career to the next level. I am hoping that it will open avenues for greater responsibilities at work. Also, I hope it will build my brand value in the industry as a future PR influencer.

 What are your future plans?

 In the coming years, I would like to lead Brand and Communications for a brand globally. My current role has given me a lot of opportunities to go beyond my comfort zone and add to my existing skill sets, and I hope to do so in the future as well. I have not led IPO PR campaign in my career and I am hoping I would have added this in my portfolio in the coming years.

 In the future, I see myself as one of the big names in the PR and Communications industry with a versatile experience across industries and intend to contribute to the learning of the tribe at large.
