Bhaskar Majumdar: The Rockstar of Our Comms Adda

Some colleagues become friends. And some friends become a part of your life.

Bhaskar Majumdar was both.

I have known Bhaskar for more than two and a half decades. We were colleagues at Vaishnavi Corporate Communications, and over the years, a professional association became a warm personal friendship. From home meets after work to weekend trips, industry events, endless conversations over food and our shared love for Twitter, now X, there was always something happening when Bhaskar was around.

He loved people. He loved food. He loved conversations. And he had an infectious ability to bring people together. That perhaps explains why he created Coms Adda, a platform for PR and communications professionals to meet, engage, exchange ideas and, importantly, just have some fun. It was quintessentially Bhaskar. No unnecessary formality. Just people, conversations, laughter and a shared love for the profession.

Professionally, Bhaskar was a communications veteran who spent over 25 years across corporate communications, reputation management and strategic communication. But his real legacy, for many of us, will not be his designations or organisations. It will be the people he connected, mentored and brought together.

He battled his illness like the rockstar he was. He fought hard, with courage and an incredible spirit. But sadly, despite everyone's good wishes, Bhaskar has moved on.

Maybe the Gods wanted him to spread some joy up there too. I am sure he will.

And knowing Bhaskar, he will probably have already started a Coms Adda in the heavens.
