I have lost a mentor, guide and person who played a key role in shaping my career

Today, the communications fraternity lost a legend.

For so many of us in PR, Bhaskar Sir wasn’t just a professional we knew. He shaped how an entire generation understood this industry how to build relationships, navigate its complexities and find our place in it.
Some people leave their mark through the work they do. Some through the relationships they build. And some through the people they bring along with them.

Bhaskar Sir did all three.

His connection with the media, clients and people was something I always admired. He understood communications at its core the craft, the relationships, the timing and, above all, people. He managed communications like a true professional, with an instinct that came from years of knowing the industry and the people in it.

For me, his contribution was deeply personal.

I had just stepped out of college, with little understanding of how this industry worked. In many ways, he was my first boss in communications. He taught me how to navigate this profession, understand its nuances, build relationships and eventually own my space in it.

He pushed me to be visible, included me in conversations and encouraged me to step forward when I was still finding my feet.

And every time I achieved something professionally, he was one of the first people to call. He made me feel genuinely proud of my accomplishments. His excitement for my milestones was sometimes greater than mine.

That was Bhaskar Sir. He didn’t just guide people; he celebrated them.

And his support went far beyond work. He was there for me through different phases of life and, over the years, became family.

The last time I met him, he had so much to talk about. So many things he wanted to share. I left thinking we would meet again and continue those conversations.

I never imagined that would be our last meeting.

The PR and communications fraternity has lost a true legend today. And I have lost a mentor, guide, friend and someone who played a very important part in shaping my career.

Bhaskar Sir, thank you for believing in me, pushing me, celebrating me and always being just a phone call away.

This space will miss you. So will we.
