I woke up this morning to news I still can't quite hold: Bhaskar Majumdar dada is no more.
Some people leave an imprint not through grand gestures, but through the quiet consistency of how they made you feel every single time you met them. That was Bhaskar da. No matter how busy, no matter the occasion, he greeted me with that signature smile, warm, unhurried, genuinely happy to see you, and an affection that never once felt performative.
Over the years, we spoke about so much- the industry, its shifting currents, the choices that define a career in communications, and the quieter questions about how to do this work with integrity. I didn't always realize it in the moment, but I was always looking up to him. His guidance wasn't the kind that came in lectures; it came in the way he listened, the way he nudged rather than instructed, and the quiet confidence he placed in people long before they had it in themselves.
I don't have the right words today. I'm not sure they exist. There is a particular kind of grief that comes with losing someone who believed in your future more than you sometimes did, and today, that grief has no edges.
