Today, we talk about the journey of a award-winning PR & communications professional and journalist who transitioned into entrepreneurship with the founding of a leading PR firm, CommsCredible – Aman Dhall. His professional journey is as layered, interesting, and inspiring as the brand narratives and stories he crafts. Today, as the founder of CommsCredible, he is reshaping modern-day communications era. He is also a prominent voice in India's communications and PR landscape believes in leading with truth, trust, and transformation. He brings over two decades of cross-sector experience at the intersection of strategy, reputation, and stakeholder trust—spanning media, financial services, sports, healthcare, and the development sector.
Other than being a PR expert, he is a natural sportsperson and changemaker. He has proudly represented India at the World Masters Table Tennis Championship in Rome and contributed to the Indian chapter of the Routledge Global Handbook on Physical Activity Policy & Practice.
In this feature, we explore both his professional journey and personal milestones from the early days of his career and his transition into entrepreneurship, to the inspiration behind founding CommsCredible, the challenges he’s navigated, his perspective on being a modern-age entrepreneur, and so much more.
HIS JOURNEY
“Every transition in my career has felt less like a planned pivot and more like a natural progression — shaped by curiosity, context, and a constant urge to grow, both as a professional and as a person,” says Aman, sharing the trajectory of his professional journey from journalism to entrepreneurship.
Dhall began his career in journalism with The Economic Times, where he learned the raw power of narratives that inform, influence, and ignite. “As a journalist, I had a ringside view of how stories shape societies,” he explains. That perspective deepened when he moved into corporate communications. “Later, in corporate communications, I saw another side of the storytelling spectrum — the focus to simplify finance, drive perception, shape category transformation and sometimes, even spin a genuine narrative in your brand's favour.”
But it was precisely this contrast between polish and reality that seeded the idea of the next big step in his career. “What struck me was the gap between storytelling and credibility when I moved out of the corporate communications function. Too often, the narrative was polished, but not real,” he asserted.
He mentions that entrepreneurship wasn’t a sudden switch. It was a quiet calling that grew stronger over time. “I started CommsCredible not just to tell stories, but to build trust — to put authenticity at the centre of brand building. The work, at its core, is still the same: listening deeply, asking better questions, solving real problems, and telling stories that move people,” he mentions.
Rewriting the PR Playbook with Purpose at CommsCredibleAs the founder of CommsCredible, Dhall has built a value-driven platform rooted in strategic storytelling and business alignment. Reflecting on the early inspiration behind CommsCredible, He shares the inspiration behind starting the agency, stating, “CommsCredible was born from a simple, recurring insight — communication needs to be deeply connected to business problem-solving. I didn’t want to do spray-and-pray PR. I wanted to shape communication that drives progression — stories rooted in insight and impact. From the beginning, we were intentional. We chose clients carefully, stayed values-driven, and focused on long-term credibility.”
A standout example of the firm’s impact-led approach is their work with BASIC Home Loan. “What began as a communication project became a mission to improve housing inclusion in India. That’s the kind of work we live for — where storytelling meets systems change,” he asserts.
But staying true to his focused vision brought many challenges for him. The early years demanded tough decisions and patience — especially when it came to turning down business that didn’t align with the company’s ethos. But he acknowledged that those choices became his agency’s growth anchors.
Now, as CommsCredible steps into its next phase — what Dhall calls CommsCredible 2.0 — the focus is shifting towards building and nurturing the right talent. “Because people are your loudest story,” he believes.
What It Truly Means to Be a Founder
Talking about his career transition, Aman shares what surprised him most, “The biggest surprise is how lonely, yet liberating, the founder’s journey can be. In a corporate role, you have systems, teams, fall back options. As a founder, especially early on, it’s just you — your conviction, your capacity to unlearn, and your resilience.”
Having led communications for some of India’s most visible brands, Aman was no stranger to high-stakes decision-making. But he explained that the entrepreneurial path showed him different kinds of hurdles. “But it also sharpens your purpose. You realise that leadership isn’t about control or titles — it’s about service. Service to your team, to your clients, and to the story you’re shaping,” he explains.
His Perspective on India’s Physical Activity Landscape
When Aman was invited to contribute to the Routledge Global Handbook on Physical Activity Policy & Practice, he saw it not simply as an academic assignment, but as a unique opportunity to apply his multi-disciplinary experience to a global conversation.
Drawing from his early years as a sports enthusiast and his later career at the intersection of communication, development policy, and entrepreneurship, he offered a grounded perspective for the India chapter, “The chapter explored how physical activity is understood and promoted in India, tracing the journey from historical traditions to present-day national policies. I examined how cultural expectations, economic disparities, and political priorities have shaped participation — not just in formal sport, but in everyday movement,” he elaborates.
He further adds, “I examined how cultural expectations, economic disparities, and political priorities have shaped participation — not just in formal sport, but in everyday movement.”
His Life Lessons from Sports
Dhall has also represented India at the World Masters Table Tennis Championship in Rome, fulfilling a lifelong dream he and his father had shared.
“Rome was special — it was a childhood dream my father and I shared: me playing for India. To walk into that arena wearing the India jersey was emotional, but also grounding,” says Dhall, recalling the proud moment.
Sharing the adrenaline of international competition, he expressed, “What struck me most was the beauty of being a beginner again. On the court, nothing else matters — not your title, your age, or your background. All that counts is your mindset and how you play the point in front of you.”
This opportunity also taught him important leadership and life lessons like leadership is about endurance. “You lead better when you stay coachable, when you keep showing up, especially when no one’s watching,” he adds.
Perhaps the most poignant outcome of his experience was his decision to honour his father’s legacy. “In honour of my father — and all that sport has given us — I launched the Virendra Kumar Dhall Scholarship for Sporting Excellence at Loughborough University last year. It’s a 5-year commitment to support young Indian athletes pursuing excellence in non-cricket sports.”
“My father believed that sport builds character. I wanted his name to live on in a place that shaped so much of mine — and to pass forward the belief that sporting dreams, no matter how audacious, deserve backing,” he concludes.
His Advice to Young Professionals
He advises all the young professionals aspiring to transition from job roles to entrepreneurship, “Start with a problem you genuinely care about — not just the idea of working for yourself. Build meaningful relationships, stay flexible, listen deeply, and keep solving for your consumer. Let your product evolve with those insights. Learn how to sell. Learn how to serve. And most importantly, learn how to stay steady through uncertainty. If you fail — and sometimes you will — fail with your values intact. That’s the kind of failure that truly shapes you.”
His Future Plans
Now, as his firm charts its next chapter, Dhall is setting a bold course for the future. “We’re evolving from being a communications-first firm to a business consulting one— where strategy, storytelling, and community intersect. Communication will remain our superpower, but it’s now part of a broader toolkit for solving business problems — whether it’s narrative design, culture-building, content systems, or market advocacy,” he shares.
Describing his vision in terms of impact, he mentions, “Our focus is on deepening our presence in sectors that define India’s next leap — fintech, health, education, sports, manufacturing, and sustainability-led ventures. These are domains where trust is core, and where purpose-led storytelling can unlock real value. We’re also expanding globally. We already work with global brands, future-forward institutions, and mission-driven ventures from Europe, the UK, and the US. Their diversity challenges us to stay grounded, think globally, and bring fresh perspective to every partnership. We’re also playing the long game: building IPs, partnerships, and talent networks that reflect our core belief — that credibility is the currency of the future.”
Despite the expanding scope and scale, he stays true to a fundamental truth that’s guided him from day one, “To build trust, because purpose still matters — and always will.”
