Veteran journalist Vedika Sud has joined NDTV 24x7 as Consulting Editor, bringing with her nearly two decades of experience in reporting and newsroom leadership.
Throughout her 19-year career, Vedika has covered some of South Asia's most significant events, earning recognition for her balanced reporting, strong storytelling, and commitment to factual journalism. One of the defining moments of her career came during India's devastating second wave of COVID-19 in 2021, when she reported extensively on the healthcare crisis, shortages of essential medical supplies, and the challenges faced by families across the country.
Before joining NDTV, Vedika served as India Bureau Lead at CNN International. In that role, she led coverage across India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan, reporting on major developments and working closely with CNN's global teams to bring South Asian stories to international audiences.
Over the years, she has reported on several key events, including the India-Pakistan tensions following the Kashmir terror attack, the G20 Summit in 2023, the refugee crisis along the India-Myanmar border, the farmers' protests, and environmental concerns linked to Delhi's landfill sites.
Earlier in her career, Vedika worked with India Today Group, where she anchored major news bulletins and managed editorial teams. She also held key roles at NewsX and Times Now, where she covered elections, security issues, terror incidents, and important political developments while mentoring young journalists and leading newsroom operations.
An alumna of Sophia College, Mumbai, Vedika holds a postgraduate diploma in Social Communications Media from Sophia Polytechnic and a Graduate Certificate in Public Policy from the Takshashila Institution.
Her work has received industry recognition, including an Honourable Mention at the Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) Awards 2024 for her reporting on women's issues. She was also a finalist at the South Asian Journalists Association (SAJA) Awards 2021 in the Essay and Opinion category.
Welcoming her to the organisation, Rahul Kanwal, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of NDTV, said Vedika's experience, analytical skills, and global perspective would strengthen the network's commitment to delivering insightful and accurate journalism.
Speaking about her new role, Vedika Sud said meaningful journalism goes beyond reporting events and helps audiences understand their significance and impact. She added that she is excited to join a newsroom known for credible storytelling and looks forward to delivering context, clarity, and deeper understanding in an increasingly fast-moving news environment.
