Srikanth Velamakanni, Co-founder and Group Chief Executive of Fractal, has been appointed as the new Chairperson of Nasscom. He succeeds Sindhu Gangadharan, Managing Director of SAP Labs India, who completed her tenure as Chairperson in April 2026.

Before taking over the top role, Srikanth served as Vice Chairperson of Nasscom and was a member of its Executive Council for more than six years. As the co-founder of one of India's leading AI-focused companies, he brings extensive experience in artificial intelligence, analytics, responsible technology, and global business strategy.

In his new role, Srikanth will work closely with Rajesh Nambiar, President of Nasscom, and the Executive Council to guide the technology industry's future priorities. The organisation will focus on helping businesses adopt AI, encouraging innovation in AI-powered products, promoting Agentic AI, strengthening India's DeepTech ecosystem, and supporting advancements in areas such as semiconductors, AI infrastructure, and advanced engineering.

Another key priority will be preparing India's workforce for AI-driven jobs through skill development and training programmes. Nasscom will also continue promoting responsible AI practices and industry standards to strengthen India's position as a trusted global technology hub.

Speaking about his appointment, Srikanth Velamakanni said he is honoured to take on the role at a time when artificial intelligence is transforming businesses around the world. He added that India has a major opportunity to lead this transformation, and Nasscom will focus on driving AI-led growth, encouraging innovation, and preparing professionals with the skills needed for the future. He also thanked outgoing Chairperson Sindhu Gangadharan for her leadership and said he looks forward to working with the Executive Council and the wider technology ecosystem.

Rajesh Nambiar, President of Nasscom, said Srikanth's entrepreneurial experience and deep understanding of AI make him well suited to lead the organisation. He added that under his leadership, Nasscom will continue supporting the growth of India's technology industry and strengthen the country's position as a trusted partner for AI-driven transformation.

Outgoing Chairperson Sindhu Gangadharan said it was a privilege to lead Nasscom during a period of significant change for the technology industry. She expressed confidence that Srikanth will build on the organisation's progress and take its AI agenda to the next level.

Apart from leading Fractal, Srikanth is recognised as a strong advocate for artificial intelligence and India's technology ecosystem. He has contributed to government discussions on AI policy and national security and is an alumnus of IIT Delhi and IIM Ahmedabad. He has received several honours, including the Distinguished Alumni Award 2025 from IIT Delhi and the CEO of the Year award at the 2023 Entrepreneur Awards. He is also a founder and trustee of Plaksha University, where he supports innovation and technology education in India.
