Tata Communications has announced the appointment of Ganesh Lakshminarayanan as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer – Designate of the company.

Ganesh brings over 30 years of global leadership experience, having worked across multinational companies, B2B start-ups, and Indian enterprises. Most recently, he served as Managing Director and Group Vice President for ServiceNow in India and the SAARC region, where he led business expansion and market growth. Before this, he was CEO of Airtel Business in India and earlier headed Airtel’s Enterprise Business unit. During his tenure, the enterprise business achieved strong growth, receiving the Chairman’s Award for Best Business Unit in FY23, delivering nearly 50% growth over three years and increasing market share.

On the academic front, Ganesh holds an MBA with high distinction from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Guindy Engineering College in Chennai, graduating as a gold medalist.

Beyond his corporate roles, Ganesh has been elected twice to the NASSCOM executive council and has served on the FICCI council. He is also a founding member of Social Venture Partners Bengaluru.

Commenting on the appointment, NG Subramaniam, Chairman of Tata Communications, said that Ganesh was selected following a detailed evaluation process. He added that Ganesh’s experience in global businesses, digital transformation, automation, AI, enterprise partnerships, and large-scale deals aligns well with Tata Communications’ long-term strategy and growth ambitions.

Ganesh Lakshminarayanan thanked the Board for its confidence in him and said he is honoured to join an organisation with a strong legacy. He added that he looks forward to working with the leadership team to strengthen customer focus, invest in people, and execute the company’s strategy with consistency and discipline.

The appointment is subject to regulatory approvals. Once these approvals are received, the Board will formally appoint Ganesh as Managing Director and CEO. He will succeed A. S. Lakshminarayanan, who is set to retire from the role on April 13, 2026.
