  • Bharti Airtel has appointed Rahul Vatts as Director — Corporate Affairs and Group Chief Regulatory Officer, expanding his responsibilities.
  • In his new role, Vatts will lead the Corporate Affairs team, manage stakeholder engagement, and shape the company's public policy and regulatory strategy.
  • He will serve as the primary interface with government and regulatory bodies and will continue to be a member of the Airtel Management Board.
  • Vatts, who has nearly 30 years of experience in the telecom sector, joined Airtel in April 2020 and will also join the Board of Bharti Airtel Foundation to align its activities with the company's objectives.

Bharti Airtel has expanded the responsibilities of Rahul Vatts, appointing him as Director — Corporate Affairs and Group Chief Regulatory Officer.

In this expanded role, Rahul will lead the Corporate Affairs team and drive stakeholder engagement across industry and government, shaping the company’s public policy position and regulatory strategy. He will also act as the primary government and regulator interface for Bharti Airtel. 

This move is in line with company’s commitment to strengthen its corporate affairs capability as the brand extends beyond telecom, stated a press release.

Rahul will continue to serve on the Airtel Management Board. In addition, he will be inducted onto the Board of Bharti Airtel Foundation to ensure that the Foundation’s activities are also aligned with the larger objectives of the company.

A telecom veteran with about 30 years of experience, Rahul joined Airtel in April 2020 as the Chief Regulatory Officer. He is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad and The Wharton School, Pennsylvania.
