STAR Gold turns to Bollywood blockbusters to end the year with a bang
STAR Gold has lined up an exciting range of movies for viewers in December. This is one of the initiatives that the channel has taken to end the year with a big bang. Starting December 10, Super Six will feature Bollywood hits like ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Black’, ‘Ab Tak Chhappan’, ‘Kya Kool Hain Hum’, and ‘Hera Pheri’ among others.

STAR Gold has lined up an exciting range of movies for viewers in December. This is one of the initiatives that the channel has taken to end the year with a big bang. Starting December 10, Super Six will feature Bollywood hits like ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Black’, ‘Swadesh’, ‘Lakshya’, ‘Hulchul’, ‘Ab Tak Chhappan’, ‘Fida’, ‘Kya Kool Hain Hum’, ‘Gayab’, and ‘Hera Pheri’ among others.
Besides, events like the IIFA Awards 2005, which was held in Amsterdam, and the STAR Screen Awards will be also showcased as part of the Super Six line-up. The series will be on till the second week of January 2006.
Actor Rajpal Yadav has been roped in to feature in a promotional campaign for the Super Six series. Yadav, who stars in the campaign as an astrologer – Jyotishi Bhagwan Bharose Futurewale Baba – gives interesting tit-bits about the movies / events, and analyse them in a hilarious astrological fashion.
This apart, in an attempt to woo viewers, the channel is also offering a gold coin to a lucky winner during every break of Super Six. All one has to do is to answer a question asked during breaks, and SMS the answer to 7827. The names of winners would be scrolled during subsequent movies aired on Super Six.
Meanwhile, even before the commencement of the Super Six, STAR Network will be airing the Amitabh Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore and John Abraham starrer ‘Viruddh’ on December 4. For the first time ever, STAR Network will be airing the movie on three of its channels – STAR Gold (1 pm), STAR Plus (4 pm), and STAR One (8 pm).
Said Ajay Vidyasagar, Executive Vice-President, Marketing, STAR India Pvt Ltd, “Television viewing habits are changing and at the STAR Network we have seen that there is a huge audience for television viewing in the weekends. On television, Hindi films is the second biggest genre after Hindi general entertainment. Every weekend, Super Six on STAR Gold will bring to viewers the best of Hindi movies and film-based events.”
Meanwhile, STAR Gold has tied up with some of the biggest upcoming movies, one of them being ‘Krissh’, which is a sequel to ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ and stars Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra. The channel also has plans to showcase ‘Shaadi No. 1’ next year.
