  • Kartik Sharma has been appointed to the Board of Governors of the Media Research Users Council India (MRUCI) as part of a new group of four members.

Kartik Sharma, Group Chief Executive Officer – India operations at Omnicom Media Group, has been appointed to the Board of Governors of the Media Research Users Council India (MRUCI).

Sharma is among four new members appointed to the board, alongside Samudra Bhattacharya, CEO – Print and Radio at HT Media; Janhavi Abhijit Pawar, Director, Sakal Media Pvt. Ltd.; and Navin Khemka, President, Client Solutions, WPP Media South Asia.

The appointments come as MRUCI continues its work towards the revival of the Indian Readership Survey (IRS). The organisation has said the new IRS will seek to provide a contemporary cross-media measurement framework covering evolving areas of media consumption.

Sharma brings nearly three decades of experience in the media industry, with expertise across communication planning, behavioural economics, media research, analytics and technology. He has also worked extensively on building long-term client relationships and has handled brands including Hindustan Unilever, Mondelez, Netflix and L’Oréal.

He began his career as a Media Planner at HTA before moving to Lintas as Channel Planning Director. He subsequently held roles at Mindshare, Madison Media Research Centre and Maxus, where he headed the West region. Before joining Omnicom Media Group, Sharma was CEO of Wavemaker South Asia.
