Jeevan TV gets HC stay on I&B Ministry’s order canceling uplink permission
Malayalam satellite channel Jeevan TV, which had been denied permission by the I&B Ministry to continue uplinking in India as it was carrying news and current affairs programmes, has been given a respite by the Kerala High Court.

Malayalam satellite channel Jeevan TV, which had been denied permission by the I&B Ministry to continue uplinking in India as it was carrying news and current affairs programmes, has been given a respite by the Kerala High Court.
The High Court bench at Ernakulam stayed the Ministry’s order dated September 11, which stated that the channel had failed to get security clearance from the Home Ministry for the telecast of news and current affairs. The I&B Ministry had, therefore, directed that no DTH service provider and cable operator would carry this channel on their DTH/cable network.
In his order of September 17, granting interim injunction, the Ernakulam High Court bench Judge also issued notice to the Union Government on the petition by Jeevan Telecasting Corporation Ltd.
Jeevan TV was launched with the backing of the Catholic Church in Kerala and has been on air since July 2002.
