With the rising corona positive cases across the country there have been many reports of media persons testing positive while discharging their duty.

Recently some news media houses have reported corona positive cases and now an iTV Network employee has tested positive.

In a media statement, the iTV Network spokesperson said that post this development the premises have been vacated and the staff is operating from  a different facility.

Here is the full statement :

One of our colleagues from the India News output team tested positive for covid-19 last evening and was helped by our team to get admission in one of Delhi’s top hospitals. However, we are relieved to share with you that since then she has shown mild symptoms and has now been advised by the doctors (in writing) to self quarantine from home.

However, as per clear protocols, we immediately vacated the premises of The Media House in Okhla for sanitization. The channel went on recorded shows till 12 noon the next day.  We were already working with a skeletal staff and contact tracing began immediately. As many as 40 colleagues have been tested; these include 19 primary and 20 secondary contacts. The DM and SHO of the area were immediately informed and all those who were in contact have been asked to self-quarantine. Her work area was limited to the second floor and the canteen area on 3rd floor. Our advertisers and other stakeholders were immediately informed and kept updated. The premise was vacated at 5.00 pm yesterday (on May 21), within 2 hours post confirmation of her medical reports.

The channel has also organized 20 rooms in a five star hotel for those employees who don’t want to self-quarantine at home. In addition, the team ensured that the patient was admitted in one of Delhi’s top hospitals, and video consultations with two doctors including a former IMA president was organized for the colleague in her hospital room by the channel.

The office premises were sealed, MCD was informed and they have already done one round of sanitization. A private company has been engaged for the second round.  In the interim, as per a pre-conceived contingency plan the channel has shifted to another building nearby with the most minimum staff. Yet, India News and NewsX (as well as our regional channels) were up and running by 12 noon today.

Even before the PM announced Lockdown, ITV Network had enforced Work from Home, allowing only a skeletal staff in the building, where we followed a strict regime of sanitization, masks, social distancing and temperature screening. Videos of the cleaning process were taken and sent to the management on an hourly basis.
We are taking this development with seriousness and alacrity to ensure health and safety of our entire team and their families.

We hope for a quick recovery for our colleague.
