BARC Week 46: ISL and season finales fetch increased viewership
Interestingly this year, 55 per cent of the viewership for the first match came from rural while the rest from urban
Week 46 of BARC (November 11-17) saw ISL and season finales bringing in increased ratings for the respective channels.
The opening ceremony of ISL on Friday (November 17, 2017) at 7 p.m. garnered overall 4.49 million impressions, a 17 per cent increase from 3.84 million impressions last year (which was held on a Saturday). The first match between Kerala Blasters and Atlético de Kolkata witnessed a 66 per cent increase in viewership in 2017 to 7.4 million impressions over 2016 where the game between North East United FC and Kerala Blasters fetched 4.4 million impressions.
Interestingly this year 55 per cent of the viewership for the first match came from rural while the rest from urban. ISL is being telecasted over nine channels including Star Sports 1 Hindi, Asianet Movies and Jalsha Movies.
The final episodes of comedy reality show ‘Comedy Dangal’ on &TV brought in increased viewership for the channel over the weekend. The consumption increased by 62 per cent on Saturday (November 11) from its previous four weeks average of 0.93 million impressions to 1.5million impressions while on Sunday (November 12) it shot up by 71 per cent from 0.7 million impressions to 1.2 million impressions (previous four weeks average). &TV took the eighth spot in the urban Hindi GEC market with 165 million impressions.
The finale of bi-weekly suspense drama ‘Dev’ on Colors saw a similar trend with the ratings on Saturday increasing by 29 per cent to 2.3 million impressions from its previous four weeks average of 1.8 million impressions. Sunday, however, saw a trivial 4 per cent jump from previous four weeks average of 2.17 million impressions to 2.19 million impressions. Colors continued to rule the Hindi GEC urban market with 451 million impressions.
