BARC Week 18: Sun TV on top; Star Sports 1 Hindi slips to 3rd spot

After weeks of a similar trending pattern, BARC’s Week 18 data has seen a major upheaval across genres. Sun TV, which has been ranking on third for a while now with visible growth for the last few weeks, has managed to clinch the top spot with 1013848 impressions. 

Dangal takes the second spot like Week 17 with 993650 impressions and Star Sports 1 Hindi slips down to number 3 from the first position. 

Sun TV’s sudden rise to the top spot can be attributed to the screening of big movies on the channel. Ajith-starrer ‘Visawasam’, which was screened recently, registered 18143 impressions. That’s almost double of what Naayagi’s impression on Week 18, which takes the second spot with 9697 impressions. 

In the top-5 programme category in the Hindi GEC genre, Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya has again regained its first position after it had slipped to the third spot in Week 17. It recorded 10851 impressions. Another Zee TV show Kundali Bhagya is on number 2 with 10048 impressions, Dangal’s Mahima Shanidev Ki on number 3 with 9568 impressions. Colors’ Naagin 3 returns to the list on the fourth position with 8939 impressions. Star Plus’ Kasauti Zindagi Kay is the new entry this week on the first spot with 8817 impressions. 

Urban Market
Star Plus has managed to stay put in the top spot this week as well with 428610 impressions. However, the impressions have dwindled heavily from week 17 (467679 impressions). Sony Entertainment Television moved up one step to the second spot with 348589 impressions, Colors climbed up to number 3 with 347984 impressions while Zee TV slipped to the fourth position from number 2 with 331432 impressions. Sony Sab is constant at number 5 with 318060 impressions. 

In the programme category, Kumkum Bhagya is on top like week 17 with 6088 impressions, Naagin-3 sees a major spike and moves up to number 2 from the fifth position in week 17. It recorded 5872 impressions. Kundali Bhagya is in the third position with 5718 impressions, Kasauti Zindagi Kay in the fourth position with 5704 impressions and Kulfi Kumar Bajewala is on the fifth position with 5644 impressions. 

Rural Market
Dangal again is on top in week 18 with 757813 impressions which is a downward trend. On week 17, the channel had recorded 842857 impressions. Big Magic takes the usual second spot with 567255 impressions. Zee TV is third again with 237375 impressions followed by Star Plus with 201219 impressions and Colors with 157745 impressions. 

In the programme category, Dangal’s shows have managed to clinch the first three positions. Mahima Shanidevi Ki is on top with 7708 impressions followed by Ramayan with 6504 impressions and Baba Aiso Var Dhundo with 6381 impressions. The fourth position went to Big Magic’s ‘Paramavatar Shree’ with 5028 impressions and fifth to Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya with 4764 impressions.
