BARC Week 17: Dangal takes top spot in overall market, Star Sports 1 Hindi slips to 2nd

Star Plus continues to be the leader in urban market and Dangal in rural market

After being on the top in the overall market for two consecutive weeks, Star Sports 1 Hindi has slipped to the second position, as per the Week 17 data released by BARC India. Dangal has left it behind by recording 1083014 impressions. Star Sports 1 Hindi clocked 1037164 impressions, which is a decline from 1046642 impressions from week 16. Sun TV has retained its third position in the overall market with 870531 impressions but there has been a dip in the impressions. In Week 16, the channel had registered 934025 impressions.

In the top 5 programme category, Dangal’s Ramayan stayed put on the top position with 12471 impressions. Yet another Dangal show Mahima Shanidev Ki moved up the ladder from third to the second spot with 11259 impressions. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya, which was second in Week 16, has slipped down to the third position with 10989 impressions, followed by Kundali Bhagya (10645 impressions) and Tujhse Hai Raabta (8731 impressions) in the fourth and fifth positions respectively. Colors’ Naagin 3 crashes out of the list.  

 

Urban Market
Star Plus continued to be the leader in the urban market with 467679 impressions. The channel has clearly seen a good spike in numbers here as Week 16 had recorded 439028 impressions. Zee TV has managed to beat Sony Entertainment Television and clinched the second spot with 347374 impressions. Sony Entertainment Television is in the third position with 345604 impressions followed by Colors at No. 4 with 341098 impressions and Sony SAB on number 5 with 311591 impressions.

In the programme category, there has been a major shuffle. The Kapil Sharma Show which was the number 1 show in the urban market in Week 16, finds no place this time. Instead, Kumkum Bhagya has regained the top spot with 6561 impressions, Kundali Bhagya takes the second spot with 6490 impressions, Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Kulfi Kumar Bajewala are in the third and fourth spots with 5788 and 5547 impressions respectively. Colors’ Naagin 3 is on the fifth position with 5498 impressions.

Rural Market

Dangal is on the top in Week 17 as well with 842857 impressions, which is an upward trend. In week 16, despite taking the top spot, Dangal had registered 752992 impressions. Big Magic also saw an upsurge in numbers while retaining its second spot. The channel registered 609225 in Week 17 as against 566288 impressions in Week 16. Zee TV takes the third spot with 226030 impressions, followed by Star Plus on No. 4 with 224546 impressions and Colors on No 5 with 167504 impressions.

In the programme category, Dangal’s shows have managed to clinch the first four positions. Ramayan is on top with 10228 impressions followed by Mahima Shanidevi Ki with 9344 impressions, Baba Aiso Var Dhundo with 6506 impressions and Saibaba with 6010 impressions. The fifth position went to Big Magic’s Paramavatar Shree with 5844 impressions.
