Mathrubhumi Printing and Publishing Co, publisher of popular Malayalam daily ‘Mathrubhumi’, is gearing up to foray into the FM radio business. Christened as Club FM 94.3, the Kerala-based media major will roll out FM stations in Kochi, Thrissur, Cannanore and Tiruvanathapuram.

The development was confirmed by P Balasubramanian, who recently quit as Head of Programming, Radio Mirchi Chennai and joined Club FM as Chief of Programming for all the four FM stations. Balasubramanian replaces Ajith Bhaskaran, who quit as Programming Head of Club FM even before the launch.

Earlier, Mathrubhumi had roped in G Srinath as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to this appointment, Srinath had worked as head of Mudra’s Kochi branch.

RK Swamy\BBDO is handling the creative duties of Mathrubhumi’s FM venture.

Repeated attempts at eliciting a comment from Srinath did not yield any result.
