Varun Kohli & Rakesh Gopal head to Mogae Media

Mogae Media has appointed Varun Kohli as Chief Monetising Officer. Kohli joined the company on March 19, 2012, reporting to Sandeep Goyal, Chairman, Mogae Media. In his new role, Kohli will be responsible for overseeing the sales of mobile, DTH (direct to home) and other inventory.

In a conversation with exchange4media, Kohli said, “This is a great time for mobile marketing, especially in a country such as India. Mobile, as a medium, offers unique experience for advertisers. I am really excited and elated to be a part of Mogae Media, where I would be able to work on this media.”

Prior to this, Kohli was Associate Publisher for Mail Today for a year and a half. He brings experience of over 18 years to the table. He had begun his career in 1994 with Indian Express and has worked significantly in the print industry with brands such as Amar Ujala, Hindustan and Dainik Bhaskar. Kohli is a management graduate from SIMS, Ghaziabad.

Sandeep Goyal, Chairman, Mogae Media, said, “Varun is a very seasoned professional with vast experience. He has worked with many large brands in the past and we believe he will contribute to Mogae tremendously.”

Also joining the company is Rakesh Gopal, who too was with Mail Today as Head-Impact for Delhi, East and South India for over three and a half years. He has joined Mogae Media as Senior Vice President, based in the company’s Delhi headquarters.

Gopal said, “I have spent two decades in media sales, largely in print. I see mobile as the new game-changer in the media business, which is why I am here to evangelize a new catalyst of change.”

Tanya Goyal, Executive Director, Mogae Group, added, “Rakesh is a mature professional with great client outreach. He will be one of the leaders for Mogae in monetising mobile as a medium.”

Gopal brings two decades of experience in media sales. He has worked with The Pioneer, DNA and Hindustan Times as Manager Accounts (Media Marketing). He is a graduate in commerce from Delhi University, with an MBA degree.
