Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi to be Chief Guest at Dainik Bhaskar INK Awards 2015

Dainik Bhaskar INK Awards, an initiative by exchange4media Group, celebrates creativity in newspaper advertising and recognises the talent behind it. The winners have been selected by a jury of marketing, advertising and print veterans.

The Awards will be held today, August 21, 2015 at Trident BKC, Mumbai, with Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Minister of State for Parliamentary and Minority Affairs as Chief Guest along with V Vaidyanathan, Chairman and Managing Director, Capital First as the Keynote Speaker and Guest of Honour.

“Often people say or speculate that print advertising is dead. I think INK Awards remind us of the importance of print ads and the fact that print is yet alive and kicking,” explained jury member Ajay Kakar, Chief Marketing Officer – Financial Services, Aditya Birla Group.

Talking about the key factors they were looking for in entries, jury member Veetika Deoras, Head – Brand Marketing,Digital Vertical and Corporate Communication, Tata Capital opined, “I think- relevance to the category - if its innovation, then we looked at it. Whether its scale national in nature or not. Besides that, we looked for work which is clutter-breaking, that captures our attention and challenges our imagination. In addition, we were looking at persuasion (likability).”

Kaacon Sethi, Chief Corporate Marketing Officer, Dainik Bhaskar Group was also on the jury panel for the DB INK Awards. Commenting on the judging process, she said, “We were looking for ways in which the medium was used effectively; what kind of result they were able to retrieve along with how interesting the advertising was. We stayed clear of stuff that has been done before. For e.g. simple placement: the whole jacket versus jacket. We went beyond placement and focused on effectiveness of the medium.”

In Kakar’s opinion, the work being done in the print medium deserves more attention. “Lot of work can strive harder because power of print has much more to offer, than we have given it credit for,” he said.

“You have to look out for a diamond among the coal. There were lots of entries but INK was about finding the diamond which really stood out and which was way above others,” he said of the selection process.
