Some people shape content, some shape strategy, and some shape the very ground they walk on—Samir Ahluwalia does all three. As he celebrates his birthday today, it’s the perfect time to reflect on a career that spans decades, industries, and even landscapes. From journalism to leadership, from media strategy to organic farming, his journey is a testament to versatility and vision.
With over 25 years in the media and content space, Samir Ahluwalia has worn multiple hats. Today, he is the Managing Editor at Safari India, a position he has held since May 2024. His editorial acumen and ability to understand industry movements make him a key voice in the media landscape.
But his influence doesn’t stop there. As a Partner at Content Advisory Group, a role he has held since 2018, Ahluwalia plays a crucial part in shaping content strategies for brands. In an era where content is king but differentiation is everything, having someone like him at the helm makes all the difference.
His House of Ideas, founded in 2016, further cements his status as a thought leader. This venture underscores his ability to not only analyse content trends but also create impactful narratives that resonate with audiences. Whether it's media consulting, content strategy, or advisory roles, his expertise continues to drive meaningful conversations.
Before he became a strategist and mentor, Ahluwalia built his career in mainstream media, spending nearly two decades at Zee Media Corporation Limited. His role as CEO - Content from 1997 to 2016 placed him at the forefront of digital and broadcast news, giving him firsthand experience in shaping India’s media landscape.
But his journey started even earlier at Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd. (Times Group), where he worked as a Correspondent from 1994 to 1997. These early years laid the foundation for his deep understanding of storytelling, news curation, and audience engagement.
Most media veterans retire into consulting gigs or board positions. Samir Ahluwalia, however, took a different path—one that led to the foothills of the Shivalik range. Since 2010, he has been the Creator of 13 Steps Organic, an initiative dedicated to organic farming. His passion for sustainability and clean agriculture is more than just a hobby; it’s a full-fledged endeavor that reflects his commitment to meaningful work, whether in content or cultivation.
Running a certified organic farm isn’t just about growing crops—it’s about fostering a movement, ensuring that quality, ethics, and sustainability take center stage. In many ways, his work in organic farming parallels his career in media: it’s all about crafting something genuine, something that leaves a lasting impact.
Journalist, editor, strategist, mentor, investor, and organic farmer—Samir Ahluwalia embodies the kind of career that defies labels. Whether he’s helping brands refine their messaging, leading editorial teams, or tending to his farm, one thing remains constant: his dedication to authenticity and excellence.
As he celebrates another year today, one can only wonder—what’s next? If history is any indication, it’s going to be as impactful as everything he has done so far.
