HT Media’s Niranjan Prakash moves to Tata Services

After a five-year stint in New Delhi, Niranjan Prakash, General Manager – Strategic Marketing, HT Media (The Hindustan Times Group) has put in his papers. He has now taken up a research, consulting and academic role with Tata Services – the centralised services entity under Tata Sons.

Designated as Practice Consultant in the Marketing and Customers vertical, Prakash will be mostly stationed at Tata Management Training Centre (TMTC) in Pune; primarily focussing on knowledge and instruction in the brand, design and luxury domains.

Prior to his last assignment at Hindustan Times, he was the Assistant Vice President for Strategy and Planning at Star TV. Initially in his career, he has worked with the E-City Ventures (Essel Group), CNBC TV18 and The Times of India. Independently, he has made numerous academic representations at institutes under the scope of Symbiosis Society and Welingkar Education, among others, and consulted a range of SME ventures, including Rathore Jodhpur and Della Technica.

His former stints include developing the advertiser funded programming (AFP) initiatives at CNBC TV18 and Star TV; making Prakash one of the early practitioners of consumer engagement through branded entertainment IPs. Further on, his recent accomplishments at Hindustan Times include project planning and ground execution of the HT Leadership Summit (recently marking its 10th Year) and, very lately, The Magic of Print, Power Golf and Brunch Dialogues platforms.

While Prakash’s core domains of expertise, through his varied stints in media and entertainment, primarily encompass marketing strategy and brand planning, his granular focus entail product communication and engagement design. Academically, his interests also include the practice areas of luxury marketing, corporate branding and design thinking; precisely where he has now decided to focus with his stint at TMTC.

On the academic front, Prakash is a NTSE endowed scholar of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and holds a first degree with joint majors in Economics and Commerce from the University of Mumbai. Later, he was designated as the Lord Northbrook Scholar by the Association of British Scholars (ABS) for the Graduate Honors Program in International Studies from the University of Cambridge.
