On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the formation of Uttrakhand state, Hindi daily Amar Ujala is set to launch a 200-page book – titled ‘Uttrakhand Uday’ – in November 2010, which will highlight the various hidden aspects of the state. One of India’s youngest states, Uttranchal, it may be recalled, came into existence on November 9, 2000 and was later renamed as Uttrakhand in January 2007.
‘Uttrakhand Uday’ will contain all the information about the history of the state, its struggle for separate statehood, culture, society, education, tourism, and so on. The guide will also feature in-depth analysis on various developmental projects that have been undertaken in the state in the last 10 years.
Speaking on this initiative, Yashwant Vyas, Editor, Amar Ujala, said, “Our newspaper has been instrumental in the struggle for the separate statehood. We had covered each and every development that has shaped the state in the last one decade. This is our responsibility to make our readers aware of the state and this initiative will fulfill this need.”
Prior to this, newspaper had launched a dedicated supplement on the state’s tenth anniversary from November 9, 2010, onwards. Amar Ujala has started a series of articles in the state, where experts from the state are analysing the needs of the state and its potential. This series will continue for the next one and a half weeks.
