Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday addressed the inaugural edition of the Waves Summit in Mumbai, calling on global creators to consider India as their base for content innovation and collaboration. Speaking to a hall packed with content creators, policymakers and investors from over 75 countries, the Prime Minister outlined a vision where creativity and technology go hand in hand.

“Today, technology has made the sky open for the creative world. Therefore, global coordination is equally important. I am confident that Waves platform will connect our creators with global storytellers,” he said.

He invited investors and creators to see India as their creative destination. “To the creators of the world, dream big and tell your story. To investors, invest not just in platforms, but in people. To Indian youth, tell your one billion untold stories to the world,” Modi concluded.

Modi said the Waves Summit has been conceived as a platform that brings together diverse forms of creation from Reels, podcasts, games, animation, start-ups, AR, VR formats.

“You will also get a big platform through Waves Summit—a platform where creativity and coding will be together, where software and storytelling will be together, where art and augmented reality will be together,” he stated.

Highlighting India’s rapidly growing creative economy, Modi urged the youth to take advantage of the platform to chase their ambitions. “Use this platform to your advantage. Create big dreams. Use all your strength to fulfill them,” he told the audience.

The Prime Minister said he has confidence in India’s young content creators because of their fearless and boundaryless approach. “In the spirit of youth, in their working style, there are no barriers, no baggage or boundaries. That is why your creativity flows completely freely. There is no hesitation or reluctance in this,” he said.

Modi spoke of his personal interactions with young creators and his observations of their digital work. “Recently, I have met many young creators, gamers, and personally interacted with many such people. I keep watching your creativity on social media. I feel your energy,” he said.

He noted that India’s young demographic is emerging as a global creative force. “This is not a coincidence that when the world's largest young population came to India today, at that very moment, new dimensions of our creativity were emerging,” he remarked, citing examples like reels, podcasts, gaming and animation.

Modi said Waves is ultimately aimed at this generation of creators. “In the true sense, Waves is for your generation so that you can use your energy, your efficiency, to reimagine and redefine this revolution of creativity,” he said.

He also addressed the need for creative responsibility in the age of rapid technological growth. “We are all witnessing that in the 21st century, the role of technology is increasing in every person's life. In such a situation, in order to maintain human emotions, extra efforts are needed. Only the creative world can do this,” Modi said.

He warned against allowing machines to replace human depth. “We must not allow humans to become robots. We must make humans more and more creative. We must make them more and more prosperous,” he added.

Highlighting the importance of traditional art forms, he said human prosperity would not emerge from information alone. “Human prosperity will not come from the mountain of information. This technological speed will not come from reach. For this, we must give importance to songs, music, art and dance,” he said.

Modi urged creators to use their platforms to counteract harmful content. “Today, our young generation needs to save themselves from some anti-human thoughts. Waves is such a stage that can do this work. If we step back from this responsibility, it will be very dangerous for the young generation,” he said.
