YouTube sensation Prajakta Koli stole the show and hearts equally, interweaving wit, humility, and blunt truth bombs on the content creator economy during a power-charged fireside chat at e4m TechManch 2025.
The sole Indian creator who made it to TIME Magazine's list of 100 Creators, Prajakta Koli’s own story is nothing less than phenomenal - from her early days as a radio internship to being a much-loved YouTube star and now a multi-faceted powerhouse from actor to writer, and UN Climate Champion.
"I think I would just choose being a creator," she said during a fireside chat with Neeta Nair, when asked to identify her constantly shifting professional persona, highlighting the blurred boundaries and fluidity of contemporary creative minds.
The session brought to mind her success with her humor avatar "MostlySane" and her deliberate choice of keeping her content clean and welcoming. "To be honest, when I began, I had no idea what I was doing, the internet provides you with that freedom to keep experimenting until you discover your space," she reminisced, going on to explain how her content style was influenced by her audience as much as her own principles.
She also dismissed the urban legend of overnight success: “Every other person wants to ditch their 9 to 5 and become a creator. Sure, some make it, but it really does take discovering your niche and sticking to it."
The crowd was especially attentive when she spoke of the various streams of income digital creators can tap into today from AdSense to brand deals, book and merchandise royalties, and even starting personal businesses such as makeup lines. "There's literally nothing on paper that's right or wrong anymore. The opportunities are limitless," she mentioned.
Addressing the elephant in the digital room, fake likes and the loss of authenticity, Prajakta said: “The audience is smart. Fake it, and you’ll be called out. It’s already happening.”
She also paid a warm tribute to her 21-year-old self, quoting something she had written after her TIME feature: "Thank you to 21-year-old Prajakta who dove headfirst into storytelling with no plan, no prep, no roadmap, just heart." But she also confessed, instinct is still her beacon, and she finds herself taking giant, terrifying, and rewarding
leaps. So, what’s next for the creator-turned-author-turned-actor? “If anyone wants to make a movie based on my book, I’m open to being a creative producer,” she winked, leaving the audience curious and charmed.
Concluding the session, Neeta aptly put it, "Your voice and your journey are precisely what the digital decade requires." And we couldn't agree more.
