There was a time when a great event was enough. A jaw-dropping launch, a packed venue, a viral activation, these were the benchmarks of experiential marketing success. However, in today’s world with fast-moving attention economy, where loyalty is fleeting and every swipe is a potential distraction, one-off moments are no longer enough.
At Shobiz, we believe we’ve entered the Economy of Experience 2.0, a brand new era where events must evolve into ecosystems.
Why? Because no matter how spectacular, events have a shelf life.
The music fades, the lights dim, and the emotional high eventually disappears. That’s the nature of events, they conclude. But today’s consumers don’t just want fleeting moments, they want meaning. They crave ongoing value, personalisation, and community. If we want to stay relevant, we need to go beyond creating moments. We need to create momentum.
Experience 2.0 isn’t about throwing bigger events, it’s about building brand ecosystems where people don’t just attend - they belong
This is a shift from event-driven engagement to ecosystem-driven relationships. Think of it like moving from a blockbuster movie to a multi-season series. Your audience keeps coming back because they’re part of a story, a community, a journey.
In this evolved model:
- Events spark engagement, but the journey continues across digital platforms, online communities, and content streams.
- Consumers don’t just consume experiences—they become co-creators and contributors within the brand’s ecosystem.
- Brands become part of everyday life, fostering relationships that deepen over time.
The best ecosystems create seamless, value-driven, interconnected experiences—where brand, consumer, content and technology, work together seamlessly to deliver lasting impact. Let’s look at how a few leading brands are already doing this:
Take the Indian Premier League, for example. It’s no longer just a sporting event. It’s a 365-day ecosystem. Fantasy games, OTT content, behind-the-scenes clips, fan contests, and interactive campaigns ensure the IPL conversation never truly ends.
Even Nykaa, once a beauty e-commerce platform, is now a content-commerce-community loop. From Nykaa TV tutorials to influencer-led Nykaa Army conversations and experiential events like Nykaaland, they’ve built a universe where users don’t just shop, they engage, contribute, and advocate.
We’ve been building on this very paradigm with VinFast, the Vietnamese electric car brand making its debut in India. With no physical product in the market yet, the challenge was to spark conversation, build a peer group, and create a sense of belonging around a brand still new to the landscape. Beginning with the anticipation leading up to its showcase at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo, we launched a larger brand experience ecosystem, curated to inform, excite, and connect with audiences beyond the show floor. From social media storytelling to an immersive Brand World and real-time digital amplification, every touchpoint was designed to sustain momentum. Behind-the-scenes content and extended reach strategies helped position VinFast not just as a new entrant, but as a movement in the EV space, driving awareness without a traditional ad blitz and creating community before commerce.
The power of Experience 2.0: It’s not about creating one moment of magic but about designing a system where magic happens continuously
But building ecosystems isn’t without its challenges.
Consistency across platforms is hard. Personalisation must be balanced with privacy. And above all, brands must guard against turning their ecosystems into overly promotional spaces. The golden rule? Authenticity wins.
Events can no longer be seen as grand finales, they must be designed as beginnings. Every interaction should lead to something bigger, something that extends beyond the moment. The real power isn’t in gathering an audience for a single event. It’s in ensuring they never leave the ecosystem.
The question is no longer how to create better events, it’s how to turn every event into an entry point for deeper, continuous, meaningful engagements. Because in Experience 2.0, brands that win won’t just be visible, they’ll be indispensable. And that begins by reimagining experiences not as destinations, but as journeys with no real end.
