Tejinder “Tej” Gill, Managing Director (previously General Manager) of The Trade Desk’s India operations, celebrated his birthday on 15 July, marking another year of strategic leadership in the programmatic advertising arena.

Appointed as the first Trade Desk employee in India when the company officially launched here in June 2021, Gill has over four years spearheaded business growth, P&L management, and product‑development strategy across digital, video, audio, and connected TV platforms. Last year, he was promoted from General Manager to Managing Director, in recognition of his pivotal role in strengthening The Trade Desk’s presence and accelerating its expansion in the Indian market.

Boasting over 20 years in digital advertising, Gill brings experience from leadership roles at Yahoo (since 2008), LinkedIn (six years), Truecaller (nearly five years), The Times of India, Network18, and SAS International Export. His educational credentials include an M.Sc. in Operational Research from Delhi University, a B.Sc. (Hons) in Mathematics, and a Sales specialization from the Times School of Marketing, Mumbai.

In recent interviews and industry forums, Gill has emphasized building high‑performing teams and championing the open internet. He’s been vocal about India’s rapid digital adoption—citing research that Indians spend about eight hours daily online, with 70% on the open internet. Under his leadership, The Trade Desk India has championed programmatic transparency, identity standards, and data‑driven marketing solutions.
