Inshorts’ Azhar Iqubal, Deepit Purkayastha & Anunay Pandey have made it to the list of nominees of the much-awaited e4m Influencer of the Year award. The spectacular awards night is set to be held in December in Gurugram. The award honours visionaries who have transformed the industry and inspired the next level of growth while progressively using innovative technology.
Inshorts, the news app, was founded in April 2013 by Azhar Iqubal, Anunay Arunav Pandey, and Deepit Purkayastha with the goal of delivering concise news to readers in a time-efficient manner. The idea behind the app was to simplify the vast and often overwhelming amount of news into 60-word summaries. This idea made it easier for users to stay informed without spending excessive time on long articles.
By focusing on clarity, the platform managed to cater to the needs of modern-day, fast-paced readers. The app’s algorithm curates news from various national and international sources, presenting it in an easy-to-consume format. This has allowed it to compete successfully in a market dominated by traditional news platforms, carving out a niche for itself. Through Inshorts, the trio shaped the future of media consumption in India, making news accessible, engaging, and relevant for all age groups.
Azhar Iqubal is the Co-founder & Chairman of Inshorts. Iqubal led the company for 11 years as CEO and decided to step into the role of Chairman of the company in April 2024. Iqubal, along with Pandey and Deepit Purkayastha, founded Inshorts in April 2013.
Anunay Arunav Pandey is the Co-founder of Inshorts, a key figure in the digital media landscape. Under his leadership, the popular news app has redefined the way people consume news by offering concise, to-the-point summaries of news articles in just 60 words.
Deepit Purkayastha is the Co-Founder and & CEO of Inshorts. Purkayastha is responsible for overseeing Product, Data and Strategy at the company. He has also made it to Forbes Asia ’30 Under 30′- Media, Marketing and Advertising list for 2018 and Forbes India ’30 Under 30’’ list for 2016. He has dual Degree in Computer Science & Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
The trio’s innovative approach has not only disrupted traditional news formats but also set new trends in the digital content space.
