Indian Premier League 2019 to be held entirely in India beginning March 23
The date for the final has not been decided yet as the tournament will clash with India's general elections, which are expected to take place in April-May
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 will take place entirely in India, and will start on March 23, the BCCI informed. The full IPL schedule is expected to be out in early February.
According to media reports, the date for the final has not been decided yet as the tournament will clash with India's general elections, which are expected to take place in April-May. "Based on the preliminary discussions with the appropriate central and state agencies/authorities, it was decided that the 12th edition of the world's most popular and competitive T20 tournament will be scheduled to be played in India," the BCCI said in a release.
In addition to the home bases of the eight franchises, around four to six additional grounds have been shortlisted as back-up. Once the Election Commission of India announces the final dates for the polls, an entire set of games could be moved from one city to a different venue when election dates clash. Only after the election dates are announced, the venues and dates of the IPL matches will be fixed.
