Hero MotoCorp expects 8-10% growth in festive season: Sanjay Bhan, Head - Sales

Entry-level motorcycles are key to Hero MotoCorp business — its market share in the segment increased to 60% in rural areas

Hero MotoCorp Ltd (HMCL), the renowned two-wheeler manufacturer in the country recently launched their new scooter ‘Destini 125’ in the Indian market. The company is quite deliberate to achieve a whopping double-digit growth for the current festive season.

Sanjay Bhan, Head - Sales, Hero MotoCorp said, “We command well-over 50 per cent share in the domestic motorcycle market and aim to continue our growth trajectory in the coming months.”

The company has lined up a slew of new products leading up to the festive season. In August, the brand launched Xtreme 200R and introduced a high decibel multi- media campaign, along with Virat Kohli. We can also expect new premium products like Xpulse 200 and XF3R from the brand. The industry expects the second half of the year to be better than the first two quarters.

It is clear that the company is eyeing to boost its sales and aims to do so with maximum impact in October and November sales. Industry heads are already anticipating soaring monthly sales during the current festive season, peaking out for the whole of 2018.

The brand hasn’t been able to taste similar success in the scooter segment like Honda and TVS. When asked, will the new Destini change the destiny of Hero Motocorp? Bhan seems quite confident and said, “During the ongoing festive season, the Destini 125 will be a strong enabler for us in growing our presence in this category”. However, he did not comment to the specific question.

On questioning, what kind of growth the brand is expecting from the current festive season, Bhan said, “Traditionally, Hero MotoCorp has created several landmarks for global as well as domestic two-wheeler industry during the annual festive seasons. We entered the current festive season with the right momentum by creating another global benchmark in September ’18 selling over 7.69 lakh units in one month – our highest-ever sales for any single month. We are expecting around 8-10 per cent growth in retail sales over the previous festive season.”

The scooter is available for sale in the Delhi-NCR market and will be made available in other markets across the country over the next three weeks.
