Sujata V Kumar, Head of Marketing, India and South Asia, Visa, took to the stage with a heartwarming acceptance speech at the IMPACT 50 Most Influential Women Awards. Recollecting her journey, she shared how her career began during a time when women in leadership roles were rare. “I started working quite some time back, and I remember being the only woman in the leadership team. Today, it has changed, and that's wonderful," she remarked. Her inspiring words highlighted the progress women have made in breaking barriers in corporate spaces.

Before joining Visa, she held prominent roles at Coca-Cola, where she worked with creative legend Prasoon Joshi on the iconic campaign 'Umeed Wali Dhoop, Sunshine Waali Aasha'. This campaign not only became a cultural touchpoint but also served as a beacon of hope during challenging times. She shared fond memories of those days, emphasising how creative partnerships fuel her passion for marketing.

Crediting her success to strong role models, Sujata dedicated her award to her mother and sister, who have been her constant inspiration. “My mom is 86 and still working, proving that age is no barrier to achieving your dreams," she shared. She also thanked her team at Visa, her husband, and her children for being the "wind beneath her wings" and supporting her through her journey.

Sujata’s acceptance speech was a celebration of resilience, teamwork, and gratitude. As a woman who has paved the way for others, her story is a testament to how strong leadership can create ripples of change across industries.
