Bajaj CEO Rajiv Bajaj has taken a jibe at rival Ola after Chetak emerged as the largest-selling EV scooter in India with more than 3 lakh units sold to date. “Ola to Ola hain; Chetak to Shola hain,” said Bajaj to underscore its triumph over rival.
The company is now planning to launch its new model on December 20.
Bajaj was accepting an award for ‘Outstanding Company of the Year’ at the recent CNBC-TV18 India Business Leader Awards.
“My son Rishabh who has been part of the Electric Chetak team for the past 2.5 years told me this morning that based on December VAHAN registration data, our electric scooter Chetak is now the largest selling electric scooter, not third largest, in the country. So, the award could not be better timed,” Bajaj said during the awards ceremony.
