Zee Cinema partnered with International Cultural Exchange (ICE), a Pune-based non-profit organisation, to present the 5th chapter of the ICE Digital Short Film Festival. The festival aimed to encourage young filmmakers in India by providing an audience for their short films.

As part of the partnership, Zee Cinema will select three outstanding films from among the 30 short films screened at the festival and showcase them on the channel in a special dedicated slot in the coming months. The films will also be aired on Zee Premier.

Mohan Gopinath, Business Head, Zee Cinema, said, “Zee, as a group, has always been actively involved with scouting superlative talent from across the country, grooming and nurturing the talent, and presenting them with a nationwide audience as a celebration of their excellence. Be it ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ and ‘Dance India Dance’ on Zee TV or any of our talent hunt shows on the regional channels, we have constantly contributed to India’s rich pool of talent.”

He added that Zee Cinema was now keen to present talented filmmakers from across the country and showcase their finest work on national television.

The festival, which was spread over three days, started on May 20, 2010. The screenings were free of charge and open to general audience. The 30 short films screened at the fest touched upon a wide array of subjects ranging from table manners to the frenzy of Mumbai locals to abortion to the insecurities faced by the father of a beautiful 16-year old to the current craze of Facebook.
