Kwality Walls, in collaboration with Zapak, has launched the second edition of gaming championship for children in the country, the Paddle Pop Gaming League 2009. After receiving an overwhelming response last year with 35,000 participants, Paddle Pop Gaming League (PPGL) is set to be even bigger this summer. The Gaming League will be hosted in six cities – Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata. Each city will have its own leagues, very much like the IPL.

Having received much appreciation from kids and parents in the last season, the PPGL gaming format remains the same .The preliminaries will be played on www.paddlepop.in. The tournament would be played on four games based on the Paddle Pop brand character and his new ‘Pyrata’ adventure theme. Children can register for their City Leagues, play all four Paddle Pop games and can see the top 10 scorers on the dynamic City Leader Board. The Online Preliminaries are open from May 1-24, 2009. The Top 100 scorers from each city on May 24 will qualify for the City Finals to be held at the Zapak Gameplex across the six cities on May 30-31. The Top 5 scorers of the City League would represent their city at the National Finals to be held on 7th June at Nirmal Lifestyle Mall in Mumbai.

Winning participants and teams stand a chance to appear on Cartoon Network and win Xbox consoles, PSPs and prizes from Giny & Jony, EA & Zapak Games.

Punit Misra, Category Head, Kwality Walls, said, “Kwality Walls Paddle Pop is an international kids’ brand in the Walls’ portfolio and was launched last year in India. It is the only brand in the category, which has innovative kids-relevant products (like Jelly Burst, Cola Vanilla Snow, etc.) Our strategy is to create a host of branded entertainment content – from the launch of the Paddle Pop movie on Cartoon Network to Paddle Pop merchandise and Paddle Pop PC games – and get kids to experience a world of fun and adventure. Paddle Pop Gaming League has allowed us to engage with the online kids’ community and bring alive the fun and adventurous world of Paddle Pop online and on-ground. With Zapak as our strategic partner, we created this exciting and popular property last year and are looking to making it even bigger and better this year.”

“Gaming amongst children is the fastest growing segment on Zapak.com. Witness to this fact is the children’s section on the portal, viz., ZapakKids.com, with over 1.6 million registered users. Kwality Walls and Zapak have recognised this natural connect between children and gaming by initiating the Paddle Pop Gaming League,” said Arun Mehra, Chief Marketing Officer, Zapak Digital Entertainment Ltd.
