WAN-IFRA to host Asian Digital Conference in Singapore in November

The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) is all set to launch a new event christened ‘Digital Media Asia’ for digital publishers in Asia. Digital Media Asia 2009, to be held in Singapore from November 18-20, aims to explore how cutting edge organisations are using the most advanced digital media platforms to profitably multipurpose content from newspapers, magazines, broadcasting or books. The event will also focus on developing new revenue from new publishing platforms.

WAN-IFRA to host Asian Digital Conference in Singapore in November

The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) is all set to launch a new event christened ‘Digital Media Asia’ for digital publishers in Asia. Digital Media Asia 2009, to be held in Singapore from November 18-20, aims to explore how cutting edge organisations are using the most advanced digital media platforms to profitably multipurpose content from newspapers, magazines, broadcasting or books. The event will also focus on developing new revenue from new publishing platforms.

The conference will focus on online, mobile and eReader strategies in separate sessions devoted to those topics. Session topics include: successful strategies for monetising the web; boosting online revenues; innovative ventures on digital media; redefining the mobile media landscape; learning from different markets; mobile initiatives for increasing digital reach and revenues; an update on eReader markets and developments; case studies from early eReader adopters; and a eReader technology update.

According to a release issued by WAN-IFRA, confirmed speakers at the event include: Mike Van Nierkek, Editor-in-Chief, Fairfax Digital, Australia; Naoki Onodera, Senior Member - Start-up Business Development Office, Mainichi Shimbun, Japan; Emmanuel Sauquet, Head of Business Development Asia Pacific, Google, Singapore; Stig Nordqvist, Group Director, Emerging Digital Platforms, WAN-IFRA; Javier Vicente Rufino, Director, LINQ7 / PDI, Philippines; Philip Sugai, Director, Mobile Consumer Lab, GSIM, International University of Japan; Paul Jansen, CEO, SPH Search (Rednano), Singapore; Lin Ye, Deputy Director, Information Technology Departmen, JieFang Daily, China; and Jochen Dieckow, Business and New Media Research Manager, WAN-IFRA.

Digital Media Asia 2009 aims to provide information to publishers, CEOs, managing directors, IT directors, business development directors and other senior executives to help them increase their reach and expand their audience and profitability with the help of emerging media platforms, the release added.
