PVR Cinemas beefs up digital mix with desktop app

Gone are the days, of standing in queues outside cinema halls to get the best seats in prime time shows. With increasing use of technology and the need to give consumers a better product experience, services are now just a few clicks away.

Taking the concept of convenience to consumers to a whole new level, PVR Cinemas has launched an application that enables users to purchase movie tickets from their desktop.

The app has been developed by BrandAppZ and can be downloaded from Intel AppUp center.

“PVR Cinemas has got various channels such as website and mobile apps to reach out to customers. However, with thousands of apps, from functional to fun, it becomes important for a brand like PVR to have presence on this platform and leverage the users,” said Harpreet Bhatia, CEO and Co-Founder, BrandAppZ.
The application said to be first of its kind and helps users to look up show time for movies running in PVR Cinemas. Users can also check out reviews, trailers and book seats of their choice.

Brands now focus on a digital mix that helps them increase the RoI. While there are a lot of smart phones and mobile apps that help to bank on the increasing consumption through cell phones, a desktop app serves a different purpose.

“A desktop app helps the brand to make a direct connect with customers. When an app lives on a user’s desktop, it becomes the preferred choice of the user. The app enables PVR Cinemas to push offers on runtime for the users who have installed the app,” added Bhatia.

Desktop applications still not very common trend in the country, hence, the acceptance and usage of this app is very important not only for PVR Cinemas, but all brands using digital. However, in the milieu of extensive usage of mobile applications, the desktop app has a lot to compete with.

According to Bhatia, a desktop application has its own benefits. For instance, while Internet is still a costly affair on cell phones, it is widely available across all desktops and also has faster speed.

PVR Cinemas is giving the application a good push by offering 70 per cent discount on booking the first ticket using the desktop application.
