Dr Anurag Batra, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of BW Businessworld, has inaugurated the revised edition of the self-help and leadership book Bring Your Own Shark at the Delhi World Book Fair 2026, showing the importance of embracing challenges in an era of rapid change.
The book was unveiled at the Hubhawks booth, where Dr Batra was received by Kavin Misal, CEO of Hubhawks, the company said. The launch was attended by Maj Gen (Retd) Abhay Dayal and Dr Vanndana Vaadera, along with readers, publishers and visitors at the fair.
During the event, the book poster was unveiled and the revised edition was formally released amid applause from the audience. A key visual element of the book — an orange shark fin — was highlighted as a central metaphor, symbolising the personal challenges that individuals must consciously engage with to drive growth and resilience.
Speaking at the launch, Dr Batra said the book’s core idea of welcoming challenges rather than avoiding them holds relevance across generations. He noted that the book’s clarity and accessible language make it equally meaningful for students, professionals and entrepreneurs navigating uncertainty and rising expectations. Drawing from his own professional experience, he added that proactive thinking and resilience have become essential leadership traits in contemporary times.
Author Navinder Singh Narang, a former Army officer and corporate leader, said the book draws inspiration from the practice of Japanese fishermen who place a shark in live-fish tanks to keep fish active during long journeys. He explained that the concept mirrors how challenges can sustain performance and growth.
Narang added that global leaders such as Indra Nooyi, Jeff Bezos and Satya Nadella exemplify this approach by consistently embracing disruption and discomfort.
According to Hubhawks, the revised edition offers sharper reflections, contemporary relevance and practical takeaways, reinforcing the book’s position as an accessible guide for personal and professional growth.
