Forbes India’s Corporate Sailing Regatta concludes at Mumbai Harbour

Business magazine Forbes India and Aquasail recently hosted the first ever world-class corporate sailing regatta series at Mumbai Harbour, near Gateway of India, called ‘The Forbes India Aquasail Regatta Invitation Series’.

Sailing the tide and enjoying this unique experience were Rajan Mariwala, MD, Bombay Oils; Indrajit Gupta, Editor, Forbes India; Rajiv Kaul, Executive Vice Chairman & CEO- CMS; Robin Conway, Head - Consumer Risk, HSBC; Ronita Mitra, Head - Corporate Brand Group, ICICI Bank Ltd; and Murari Rajan, Executive Director, Piramal Enterprises, among many others.

Shakeel Kudrolli of Aquasail India observed, “The amazing response to the regatta has strengthened our belief that sailing can be promoted as a lifestyle in India and can be made as popular as other places in the world. I thank the sponsors who have taken the initiative and come on board with us to provide this amazing platform.”

The final leg on Saturday saw more than 70 corporates participating. There were three sessions of the regatta and four teams participated in each session. Each team consisted of six members. The high octane race lasted for 20 minutes per session. The winners won goodies, felicitations and certificates.

In the first regatta session, the team aboard ‘Thunder Flash’, including Surendra Kapur, Mrs Kapur, Bhushan Sethi, Vipul Varma, Tanay Varma, and Sachin Sanghvi were the eventual winners. The second regatta was won by the ‘Storm Rider’ team comprising Leena Mody, Satyajit Karmakar, Karan Mirchandani, Vipul Mody, Aman and Ayush Shah, while the third one saw Vankedari and Bharathi Nagesh, Vishwanath Kumar, Melwyn, Reena D’silva and Deepak Saliam coming out victorious.

The past three sessions witnessed some major corporate heads like Uday Sinha, Executive Director, PepsiCo India; Vikas Agnihotri, CEO, Religare Macguire Private Wealth; Sabyasachi Hajara, Chairman and MD, The Shipping Corporation of India; Jalaj Dani, VP, Asian Paints; Rajat Jain, Chairman, Mobile2Win; Peter Beckingham, Deputy British High Commissioner and many more basking in the sun.

The fun-filled afternoon also included a ‘How to sail & race’ camp, power boat clinic and harbour cruising.
