Dr Markandeya Ahuja’s latest book on RSS prayer unveiled

The launch of Dr Markandeya Ahuja's book, Sangh Prarthana: Gita Ke Pariprekshay Mein, published by Suruchi Prakashan, was held on 3 August 2026 at the Vichar Vinimay Nyas Auditorium, Keshav Kunj, Jhandewalan, New Delhi.

The event was attended by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sah-Sarkaryawah Dr Krishna Gopal as the chief speaker, while renowned Gita scholar and founder of GEO Gita, Swami Gyananand Maharaj, delivered the keynote blessing.

Welcoming the guests, Suruchi Prakashan Managing Director Rajneesh Jindal highlighted the publisher's literary journey. He said the publishing house has more than 600 titles across a range of subjects, available through over 150 book retail centres across India as well as online platforms.

Speaking at the event, author Dr Markandeya Ahuja discussed the inspiration behind the book and its central objective. He said the RSS prayer is more than a collection of words, describing it as an expression of the Indian worldview, national consciousness, sense of duty and spiritual values. He added that the book examines the various dimensions of the prayer in the light of the Bhagavad Gita.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Krishna Gopal spoke about the Indian philosophical tradition, the timeless message of the Bhagavad Gita and the significance of prayer in national life. He said the Gita presented a unique philosophical vision to the world and guides individuals towards understanding their duty. According to him, the author has sought to evoke that spirit through the book, which he said remains relevant today. Drawing a parallel with Lord Krishna dispelling Arjuna's doubts, he said the book would inspire volunteers with a stronger sense of duty and national commitment.

Swami Gyananand Maharaj encouraged the audience to imbibe the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita in their daily lives. He said the essence of the RSS prayer draws inspiration from the Gita and seeks to remove the veil of ignorance from the mind. Illustrating his point with the example of the sun hidden behind clouds, he said truth is always present and only its covering needs to be removed. He concluded by leading the audience in a collective prayer and extended his blessings to the author and publisher.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Suruchi Prakashan Chief Executive Officer Ankur Pathak. Among those present were Suruchi Prakashan Chairman Rajeev Tuli, trustee Manmohan Singh, Sumit Maluja and Rahul Singh, along with several distinguished personalities from the fields of education, literature, spirituality and public life. The attendees praised the book's content, describing it as a significant contribution to understanding Indian thought. The event was anchored by Sampoorn Bagri and concluded with a collective rendition of Vande Mataram.
