Delhi sets stage to become India’s most event-friendly city
Government and industry leaders join forces to cut costs, boost tourism, and make Delhi a global hub for live entertainment

In a landmark move to position Delhi as India’s premier destination for live entertainment, the Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Delhi Tourism Minister Shri Kapil Mishra and Sports Secretary Shri Hari Ranjan Rao have extended strong support to the events industry.
At a high-level meeting convened by the Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA) and PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), the ministers announced plans to reduce operational costs for event venues including the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex.
"We are committed to supporting Delhi as a global hub for live events and entertainment. By streamlining processes and reducing costs, we aim to foster a vibrant cultural scene that benefits both artists and audiences,” said Dr. Mandaviya.
“Our vision is to transform Delhi into a creative capital that celebrates art, music and culture. This initiative will not only boost tourism but also generate large-scale employment opportunities,” stated Shri Kapil Mishra.
Representing the industry, Rajeev Jain, Chair of the PHDCCI Entertainment Committee, expressed gratitude:
We wholeheartedly thank the Honourable Ministers for their unwavering support and for considering our representation. This collaborative effort heralds a new era for Delhi’s entertainment industry and aligns with our vision of making the city a beacon for live performances and events.”
The meeting also saw participation from key stakeholders including Ankur Kalra (General Secretary, EEMA), Sabbas Joseph (Wizcraft), Anil Makhija (BookMyShow) and Karan (Zomato), underscoring the industry’s unified push to transform Delhi into the country’s most event-friendly city.
