Padma Bhushan awardee Anupam Kher’s acting institute, Actor Prepares, proudly marks 21 years of educating aspiring performers and marking a significant milestone with the opening of a new centre in New Delhi.

Building on this two-decade legacy, Actor Prepares has now taken a strategic step by opening its new centre in New Delhi’s Safdarjung Enclave. The inauguration was marked by noted actor Boman Irani, underlining the school’s expanding footprint beyond its Mumbai location and reinforcing its commitment to nurturing talent across India.

Founded in 2005 by Kher, it started modestly in a single room with eight students and has since developed into an established training ground for aspiring actors in film, television, and theatre. Actor Prepares has established itself as one of Asia’s premier acting schools, distinguished by its structured, industry-aligned approach and its standing as the only acting institute globally led by an active professional actor.

The main centre is in Mumbai, the home of India’s film and television industry, Actor Prepares has spent over two decades building a reputation for effective, comprehensive actor training rooted in craft, discipline and practical experience. The institute’s curriculum spans a range of programmes, from full-time diplomas and advanced courses to short-term workshops and specialised youth acting programmes, all designed to equip students with skills for film, television and digital media performance.

The institute has alumni who have found success in the industry, such as Deepika Padukone, Varun Dhawan, Hrithik Roshan, Kiara Advani, Abhishek Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Esha Gupta, Gauhar Khan, and Shubhangi Dutt. It focuses on skills like self-discovery, discipline, and real-world preparation, with help from an in-house casting team for career transitions.

As Actor Prepares celebrates its 21st anniversary, the opening of the Delhi centre stands as a milestone that reflects both past achievement and future ambition. With a long history of shaping acting careers and a renewed focus on expansion, the institute continues its mission of transforming raw talent into confident, industry-ready artists, embodying Anupam Kher’s belief in disciplined craft, continual learning and creative exploration.
