It’s been painful to lose two people whom I have had much respect and affection for!

There are some friendships that go beyond years and titles — that grow through shared passion, creative synergy, and mutual admiration.

My friendship with Piyush Pandey, and his lovely wife Nita Joshi, is one that I have enjoyed.

Our paths first crossed in the world of creativity — judging advertising and creative shows together, where ideas sparked and conversations flowed effortlessly. Piyush’s wisdom and wit, his humility despite his legendary stature, and his deep empathy always stood out. He had this remarkable ability to make even the most serious discussions light up with humour and human insight. Sitting beside him on those judging panels was always a delight — discussions on creativity, leadership, and life.

Through the years, what began as professional respect evolved into a warm friendship. Piyush and Nita were a remarkable couple — grounded, gracious, and generous with their time and hearts. They embodied the beauty of balance — brilliance with simplicity, success with warmth.

The last time I met Piyush was at Anupam Kher’s special screening of Tanvi The Great. I can still recall his familiar laughter, that mischievous twinkle in his eyes, and the lively conversation we shared. He was full of spirit — reflective, humorous, and as always, deeply real. I didn’t know that evening would be our last meeting, but I’m grateful that our final memory together was one filled with laughter and creativity, just as our friendship had always been.

Piyush leaves behind not only a legacy of ideas that changed Indian advertising forever, but also a deep imprint on everyone lucky enough to know him. For me, he will always remain that rare friend who celebrated life with simplicity, brilliance, and heart.

My heartfelt sharing of your loss Ila Arun
