The Editors Guild of India (EGI) has issued a strong statement expressing concern over the abrupt removal of the YouTube channel Mu Ruben Kahuchhi (translated as “I am Ruben Speaking”), run by senior journalist and General Secretary of the Guild, Ruben Banerjee.
The channel was taken down by YouTube without prior warning or explanation. Banerjee was reportedly informed on August 4, that his channel had been removed for allegedly violating YouTube’s “Circumvention Policy.”
It also states that the removal came without any prior strikes, warnings or a chance to respond. The EGI called on YouTube to reinstate the channel and provide a specific explanation for the takedown.
