'Anandan has the right ideas ahead of his time'
According to colleagues, Rajan Anandan has given the media, marketing and advertising industry its strategic highpoints over the years
While Rajan Anandan is all set to move from Google India to Sequoia Capital, the former VP for Google South East Asia and India is seen as someone who has given the media, marketing, and advertising industry its strategic highpoints over the years.
Anandan joined Google in 2011 and prior to that, he was MD of Microsoft India until August 2010. Before joining Microsoft India, Anandan was Vice President and Country General Manager at Dell India.
According to Ashish Bhasin, Chairman and CEO, South Asia, Dentsu Aegis Network “Rajan has been an iconic figure in the area of technology and digital marketing and particularly for Dentsu Aegis Network, we had several occasions to closely work with him because as you know we are the largest customers of Google. I think he brings a very unique skill which very few people have in our industry, which is that he has been able to see the big picture over a long term and then have the ability to implement to achieve it.”
Vikas Khanchandani, CEO of Republic TV remembers Anandan as someone who is extremely strategic in his approach and maverick in his implementation. “Rajan is an intrapreneur. He is extremely strategic in his approach, forthright in his expectation and maverick in his implementation. His conversations are bereft of fluff and he is a visionary. All my conversations with him have been extremely enjoyable”, said Khanchandani.
Deepika Tewari AVP - Marketing, Jewellery Division - Titan remarked, "Rajan is a thought leader who believes in experimentation and change for the better and who lives this by being a serial investor and fostering this behaviour. He has brought in a whole lot of the India focus to Google and made it a large part of their overall plans from which we have all truly benefited. His simplicity and directness were both disarming and inspiring. It has been a very enriching experience to have known and worked with him. I wish him all the very best in his journey ahead".
“Rajan is a visionary. He has the right ideas ahead of his time I wish to stay connected with someone like him and Vikas is a great fit to fill his shoes. Good luck to them both” added, Tarun Katial, CEO, ZEE5 India. It must be mentioned that Anandan will continue at Google until the end of April, according to a statement from the company. Vikas Agnihotri, Country Director, Sales has taken on the responsibility in the interim for Google India, until Google India finds a new MD.
“Rajan has been able to dream big, see the big picture, but equally be grounded enough to have the ability to implement it and make it happen. And what he has done at Google for the last eight years has been phenomenal and I’m pretty sure that he will be as successful in the next organization he will be going to, and I have just best wishes for him,” added Bhasin. For more updates, be socially connected with us on
