Analysis of social media conversations on Lok Sabha Elections 2014 shows that Narendra Modi-led BJP and its coalition will win more than 300 of the 543 Parliamentary seats in the country.
An analysis of online conversations by Simplify360 shows the Aam Aadmi Party garnering high popularity among India’s online audience. This is almost catching up with the Indian National Congress.
Based on social media Exit Poll, the tally for major parties are as follows:
NDA - 310-342
Congress - 98-127
AAP - 86-117
The methodology for the study involved monitoring millions of daily online conversations on the theme of politics. The tweets related to the major parties and leaders between April 1, 2014 and May 12, 2014 were then extracted.
The tweets were classified based on their sentiment – positive, negative or neutral – and then sorted state-wise.
If a party received 70 per cent of positive mentions, it was considered that the party will receive that much share of the state’s Parliamentary seats.
