Four OTT shows that have literally stirred over-the-top excitement

That the Indian audience is slowly but surely gravitating towards OTT shows is no surprise. With the ongoing digital boom, higher Internet speed and low data cost, it is safe to say that our audience is spoilt for choice. But from the sheer variety of shows that are available, some have managed to particularly stir over-the-top excitement among the audience. Here is our list of the top four OTT shows that have garnered whopping YouTube impressions and got people talking:

 




Inside Edge

The pacy tale captures the world of cricket and entertainment.  Set within a season of the Powerplay League, a cricketing event, the central characters comprise the Mumbai Mavericks team that weave you into their complex stories, their challenges and triumphs, and their sub-plots pulls you into a vortex of manipulation, love, ambition, voyeurism, deceit, greed, lust and betrayal. The show stars Vivek Anand Oberoi as a menacing mastermind; team owner and film star played by Richa Chadha, team captain played by Angad Bedi and team coach played by Sanjay Suri. Tanuj Virwani, Sarah Jane Dias, Amit Sial, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sayani Gupta are also seen in prominent roles in the series. Apart from being the first Indian Amazon Original, the series is also the first ever IMDb premium title page in India. The series boasts of the highest completion rate of any show on Amazon Prime Video. The first customer to binge watch the entire series did it in just 7 hours, watching all 10 episodes start to finish without even taking a break and the show has received an overall rating of 8.3 on IMDb.

What the Folks

 

This series encapsulates the familial struggles of Nikhil, a young man who is forced to live alone with his in-laws for a few weeks. Nikhil’s bittersweet interactions with his wife’s family provide for humorous situations that will be highly relatable to today’s youth. Directed by two-time National Award winner Ruchir Arun, the show has been written by Anand Bhardwaj and Ayesha Nair. The series stars vastly popular digital actor Veer Rajwant Singh as the son-in-law Nikhil. The five-episode series is marketed by FilterCopy, the flagship channel of Pocket Aces, which reaches over 55 million people monthly. The very first episode that was live recently on August 17 itself has garnered 1,362,813 views.

Dev DD

 

The plot revolves around Devika who is anything but your typical girl-next-door. The show is her saga of love, lust, betrayal, and everything in between. Packed with intimate scenes, the series also takes on the less discussed topic of the LGBTQ community. The popular series has recorded up to 6,679,316 YouTube views as per April 16 to August 21.

A.I.SHA- My Virtual Girlfriend

 

The show is based on the story of a relationship between a man and woman... However, the woman in question is the first-of-its-kind Artificial Intelligence Simulated Humanoid Assistant (A.I.SHA). The series has not only won the best overall web series and best suspense/thriller at South Florida WebFest in Miami but the episodes have also gained immense traction of at least 7,00,000 impressions per episode on Facebook and YouTube.
