With sales and marketing being the top preference these days in many companies due to the competition that persists in each sector, quality of talent becomes a dire need for any company. Rishabh Kaul, Co-founder – Belong, talks to exchange4media and discusses more about the company and the sector they cater to.
What triggered this idea of focusing on sales and marketing roles alone?
We were already serving roles in technology, product management, design and data science/analytics. When we asked which roles should we focus on next, the feedback from our customers was Sales and Marketing. Especially because relevant experience (in terms of industry, nature of customers, etc.) is very important for these roles and while companies receive inbound applications, a large portion of those are irrelevant. So, what companies want is the ability to reach the right candidates proactively, instead of manually screening through multiple candidates and attempt to find a needle in a haystack.
How is sales and marketing growing across sectors? What are the differentiators between sales and marketing roles when it comes to hiring the right candidate?
Sales and marketing hiring is always a priority for any growing business. There is a growing trend of specialization of roles within sales and marketing, a large part of which can be attributed to growth of digital technologies. We are seeing roles like sales operations and strategy, sales analytics, brand experience designer, digital marketing specialists, etc. gain traction across organizations of all sizes. Everyone now wants to have a predictable sales process and strong online presence and use these to grow revenue across geographies without significant physical presence. Also, the need of solid content creation, delivery and distribution capabilities to get buyer attention in an era of information overload is a core differentiator today. Hiring in marketing today is a lot about exposure to new age media and non-traditional methods of marketing. For sales, it’s about being able to excel in specific product offering customer contexts.
How do you differentiate yourself from competition?
Belong's ranking algorithm combines contextual insights on both candidates and companies to create strong indicators of relevant and high-quality talent, instead of simplistic matching of skills listed in resumes with requirements stated in job descriptions.
Currently in beta release to select customers, the solution - which combines the updated algorithm with Belong’s proprietary Engagement Suite - has already seen early success, including with cloud-based communication platform Capillary Technologies.
Future marketing plans for Belong?
