‘ChatGPT Go’ goes free in India — Here’s everything you should know

OpenAI has delivered a massive boost to India's flourishing AI landscape by announcing that its mid-tier subscription, ChatGPT Go, will be available to all Indian users for free for a full year, starting today, November 4, 2025. What is ChatGPT Go?

ChatGPT Go was positioned as the essential bridge for the ambitious Indian professional and student. ChatGPT Go is a paid subscription tier by OpenAI, launched in India in August 2025 at the price of ₹399/month. 

Compared to the Free tier of the standard “ChatGPT” service, Go offers higher usage limits: more messages, more image generations, more file uploads, longer “memory” (i.e., more context persistence) and access to the GPT-5 model for reasoning. 

Note: It is still below the higher priced “Plus” and “Pro” tiers in terms of features. 

What’s the Free Offer for India?

From 4 November 2025, users in India who sign up (or eligible users) can get one year of ChatGPT Go free. This is a limited-time promotion. The exact end date of the redemption window is not fully specified. 

The free subscription is available to new users, free-tier users, and even existing Go subscribers (with an account in good standing).
