Sun TV Network Limited has renamed its wholly owned UK-based subsidiary from Northern Superchargers Limited to Sunrisers Leeds Limited. The company shared this update with the stock exchanges, stating that the change complies with all regulatory requirements.
The UK subsidiary operates the Northern Superchargers cricket team, one of the eight franchises in The Hundred cricket league. While the company has not specified the reason behind the name change, it is seen as part of a larger branding effort to align its international sports ventures under the “Sunrisers” identity.
The new name connects the team with Sun TV Network’s existing franchises, Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Sunrisers Eastern Cape in South Africa’s SA20 league.
Sun TV Network had acquired 100% ownership of the Northern Superchargers franchise in July 2025 for £100.5 million. The company’s board approved the deal on July 18, 2025, with completion targeted by December 31, 2025.
