The verdict is out. Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, was declared as CNN-IBN Indian of the Year 2010 in a glittering ceremony held in the Capital. The Chief Guest, Hon’ble Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee, graced the occasion in the presence of the crème de la crème of the country. Nitish Kumar was also declared the recipient of the CNN-IBN Indian of the Year 2010 in the Politics category. He was awarded for his manifold achievements for changing the vocabulary of politics and putting development on the centre stage thereby triggering hope amongst millions of citizens in Bihar that translated into an unprecedented majority for his alliance in the recently concluded Bihar Assembly Elections.

Sonata, the watch brand from the house of Tata, has announced the makeover of its brand identity with the unveiling of an all new refreshingly vibrant logo and a new brand tagline: ‘Wait Mat Kar’. On the lines of the new brand identity, Lowe Lintas has worked on the campaign. Approximately Rs 4 crore has been spent on the brand makeover.
“I think that the technology that could really be a ‘game-changer’, and which could expand the size of the market very significantly, is if mobile payments are made a reality. Bangalore-based Amagi Media Labs has been on a roll and plans to expand from its current eight cities to 20 by March 2011. Amagi works on the premise of bringing city-specific advertising on a national platform. This apart, Amagi does media buying and selling, besides creating and customising creatives to cater to the local clients.
HBO has had a good run in the year 2010. According to Shruti Bajpai, Country Manager, HBO South Asia, “2010 has been the best year for HBO in India as we have grown 15 per cent year-on-year in revenue, the highest growth ever since our launch in 2000.” With 2011 just a week away, Bajpai shares with exchange4media the English movie channel’s growth plans and strategies for the coming year.
“You can’t be a leader and be modest. But I do feel that generally, we all should be modest. If you’ve got good upbringing, some modesty should be there in you, but leadership is about confidence, and about communicating that confidence. It depends on who your audience is and who is listening to that communication. It may very easily be the case where a confident assertion is misunderstood for arrogance, and sometimes while communicating that confidence a knock on your head teaches you a lesson. So it’s always good to trip once in a while. I don’t think we as a Star Plus team are more modest or anything. It’s about being more agile. Leadership cannot be taken for granted. And that is where the agility comes from.”
